Sambulo Ngcobo began his career as a dedicated member of the South African Police Service (SAPS), excelling in crime prevention and suspect tracing units at the Plessislaer SAPS police station. His experience exposed him to a wide range of criminal activities, honing his skills in law enforcement. Following his discharge from SAPS, he transitioned into private security, joining an anti-rhino poaching unit in 2014, further expanding his expertise in high-stakes security operations.
From 2013 to 2015, while balancing professional responsibilities, Ngcobo pursued undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of South Africa (UNISA), earning his degree in 2016. Committed to advancing his knowledge, he completed his honours degree in psychology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) from 2016 to 2018.
His career also extended into VIP protection services between 2015 and 2016, and in 2017, he took on roles as a facilitator and quality assurance officer, where he worked closely with communities facing social challenges, including HIV-related issues and gender-based violence (GBV). His community involvement deepened his understanding of societal issues and solidified his commitment to addressing them.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Ngcobo faced retrenchment, leading him to work as a driver for Bolt to support his family. During this time, he became increasingly concerned about the rise in GBV cases and sought ways to make a meaningful impact. Combining his diverse professional experiences and guided by his faith, he conceptualized the “MyBrada App,” a platform aimed at reducing GBV and fostering community safety.
Ngcobo’s career reflects a strong commitment to public safety, social justice, and community empowerment, with a vision to create long-lasting change through innovative solutions like the MyBrada App.
