At Sozo Community Centre, we are guided by four core pillars of action:
Raising Awareness:
We believe that education is a crucial tool in the fight against gender-based violence. Through our awareness programs, we engage with communities to educate individuals about the various forms of gender-based violence — including physical, emotional, sexual, and economic abuse. Our goal is to dispel myths, reduce stigma, and foster a culture of zero tolerance toward any form of violence. We conduct workshops, community outreach events, and digital campaigns to raise awareness about the far-reaching impacts of gender-based violence on individuals, families, and society at large.
Providing Comprehensive Support:
We understand that survivors of gender-based violence need a safe and supportive environment to heal and rebuild their lives. That’s why we offer a range of holistic support services tailored to meet their unique needs. This includes professional counseling to address emotional and psychological trauma, legal guidance to help navigate the justice system, and the deployment of security personnel to ensure the safety of those at risk. We also provide safe spaces where survivors can find refuge and receive support in a secure and confidential setting. Our approach is survivor-centered, ensuring that every individual receives the care, respect, and dignity they deserve.
Advocacy and Policy Change:
At Sozo Community Centre, we recognize that real, systemic change requires not only awareness and support but also a transformation of the policies and laws that govern our society. We actively work with policymakers, stakeholders, and community leaders to advocate for stronger legislation and policies that protect and empower those affected by gender-based violence. By pushing for reforms that hold perpetrators accountable and provide greater protection and resources for survivors, we aim to create a legal and social framework that supports equality, justice, and safety for all.
Empowerment Programs:
We believe in empowering survivors to rebuild their lives with confidence, dignity, and independence. Our empowerment programs are designed to offer both personal and economic support, helping survivors regain control over their futures. Through initiatives such as skills training, educational workshops, financial literacy sessions, and employment support, we provide survivors with the tools they need to thrive. Our innovative MyBrada App serves as a digital platform for connection, empowerment, and resource sharing, providing survivors with access to support networks, educational resources, and opportunities for personal growth and community engagement.
